Day 59 June 4th to Maupin shelter

Today I am sixty years old.

Instarted the day in a beautiful spot at Spy Rock.

The first task was to walk up The Priest, the last 4000 ft peak on the AT before Vermont.  The approach was rocky.  But it was the descent that was difficult.  It dropped 3000 feet to the Tye River   The first 1000 or so feet was steep and rocky.  The next 2000 was a long trod. But the River was pretty.

Then came the long 3000 climb back up the other side to Three Ridges Mountain. But the views are worth.

It started to look like rain in the afternoon but it held off til right as I hit the shelter.

Complete with bear poles.

Distance: 17.7 miles
Total distance :  837.0

  1. Happy Birthday to you Paul. What an amazing thing to be on the trail and turn 60 (you do not look 60).
