Got up at 6:50, later than I wanted. After cooking breakfast and getting water I broke camp and left at 8:10. I saw Joe from Germany who was complaining of bad blisters on his heel. I offered him Compeed but he said he had some.
Climbed for half an hour and ran into two zealous hammockers who insisted on extolling the qualities of their hammocks. These guys we're 65 and 69 and loved their hammocks. Maybe someday
Trail magic came at Sam's gap where thru- hiker Kakalacky (2004) gave me Honeybuns and Coke and cheese.
That fueled me up for the climbs to come. The first was Big Bald.
On the way the beauty of nature was overwhelming. The Forest floor covered with Spring Beauty.
The bald was spectacular in its own way.
The view at the top equally awing.
Down from Big Bald was followed by the climb up Little Bald with another great view. But first a little comic relief in the form of ...
Then the view.
Arrived just after 6:00. There was some nice conversation with the others camped there.
Distance: 15 miles
