Day 20 100 Mile Wilderness- to Long Pond Stream

My first day in the 100 Mile Wilderness was 14 miles and filled with roots and rocks and ups and downs.

I also had to ford four rivers. In fact the first one was five minutes after I started.

Each time I doffed by hiking shoes and donned my water shoes. This keeps my leather hiking shoes from being soaked.

There was lots of mud

But the scenery is amazing

I had hoped to do 15 miles. But it was getting dark so I “stealth” camped by the last river that I forded.

Thunderstorms rolled in in the late afternoon and continued on into the night. There was much rain thankfully.

Tomorrow I’ll have to do 16 miles instead of a
15 to make up for cutting my mileage.

14.2 miles
2090.6 total AT Miles
100.3 to Katahdin
